2026 Arts Inspire Grant Announcement - Energy and Scale

Lab Faculty Associate Dr. Petra Dolata, Co-Director Dr. Sabrina Perić, and Dr. Roberta Rice have recently received a 2026 Arts Inspire Grant to finish their edited volume. Energy and Scale: Stories of Scale in the Energy Humanities will include contributions from 12 authors across humanities disciplines, each focusing on the impact of the seemingly ever-increasing scale of energy systems and the complex issues that arise.

The book is currently set to be published in early 2028, which marks the 60th anniversary of Earthrise, the first colour image of Earth from space. The photograph represents the beginning of the “Great Acceleration,” when technology and energy consumption began to rise at an unprecedented rate.

Energy Stories Lab

The Energy Stories Lab is collaborative and transdisciplinary, combining ethnography with new forms of art and visualization, including augmented reality (AR), 3D object making, collective mapping and GIS. We highly value collaborative community-based digital storytelling methods, such as PhotoVoice, VideoVoice and also novel approaches to oral and life history.
