Energy Pedagogies

The next generation of energy innovators, storytellers and experts

The Energy Stories Lab started in 2022 because its co-directors were driven to tell stories of energy transitions in a new way, prioritizing community voices and integrating new ways of thinking about our energy systems into research and communication.

In 2025, we had the opportunity to begin sharing some of our approaches with university and high school students across Alberta through two short field-based experiences: 1) a Grasslands Stories Field School, in partnership with CPAWS Southern Alberta held on Piikani and Kainai traditional territories; and 2) a Sustainability Summer School organized in conjunction with Fort McKay First Nation and Fort McKay Métis Nation as well as Volt-Age.

Keep an eye on this page, as we begin to share some of the digital stories that students collaborated on and created in 2025, as well as the development of collaborative pedagogies.
