Yekta Tarki’s Upcoming Art Exhibition

Yekta’s piece The Wildfire Timeline: The First Winter Aftermath (2025)

We are happy to announce that lab member Yekta Tarki has an upcoming exhibition at the Herringer Kiss Gallery (1615 10 Ave SW) in Calgary beginning on Saturday, March 14th.

For her MFA at the University of Calgary, Yekta’s thesis focused on the 2016 wildfire in Fort McMurray. Her artwork and research draws on scientific data that she then interprets into paintings in order to raise awareness for effects of climate change and its impacts. Learn more about her thesis in this blog post.

Yekta’s exhibition, Visualizing the Pyrocene: The Wildfire Timeline, will run from March 14 to April 11, with the opening reception running from 2-5pm on March 14. She will be giving an artist’s talk at 3:30pm.

Congratulations, Yekta!
