Congratulations to Dr. Mary Pinkoski on receiving a 2026 SSHRC Insight Development Grant!

Dr. Mary Pinkoski is a 2026 SSHRC Insight Development Grant (IDG) recipient. She will be completing this research at Smith Engineering (Queen’s University) as a 2026 Queen’s VPR Postdoctoral Researcher Award holder.

Dr. Pinkoski’s research builds on initial work done through the University of Calgary’s Energy Stories Lab as the 2025-2026 Ingenium Postdoctoral Associate. Her IDG project brings museum/heritage practitioners alongside engineers to explore how they are reimagining workplace practices and ethical responsibilities at decommissioned industrial sites that have also been denoted as having heritage value. To conceptualize these obligations to communities and the land, this multidisciplinary project seeks to explore how diverse groups of practitioners understand treaty commitments—relational responsibilities to humans and more-than-human beings—within their work and how cross-disciplinary considerations might lead to shared sets of best practices across industrial landscapes.
