Kaleena Denby, Undergraduate PURE Student
Anthropology and Archaeology, UCalgary
Kaleena Denby (she/her) is an undergraduate Archaeology & Cultural Anthropology student at the University of Calgary. Her current research project (PURE) focuses on an urban heritage site located near the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers, The Hunt House and the Métis Cabin. The project more broadly explores how Métis peoples find connections to heritage sites and museum spaces, bridging LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), archival work, and the voices of Métis peoples.
Kaleena’s research interests include environment and heritage conservation focused in human relationships with land and space. In the past she has volunteered at her campus Indigenous centre the Writing Symbols Lodge, and she has also collaborated with the Student Success Centre in the development of an Indigenous education focused handbook.
